ROLEX | Submariner
Ref. 6536-1
1950s
Mother of all Rolex Submariners
Submariner “Solo” dial
Early "Thin Case"
Introduced in 1955 this is one of the most collected vintage sports watches. The nickname "James Bond" is given because Sean Connery wore the Rolex Submariner in the very first Bond movie in 1962: "Dr. No”.
A few of the early Submariner were equipped with a Submariner "Solo" dial - the most minimal(istic) of all Submariner dials. On this dial, besides the words "Rolex Oyster Perpetual", you can only see the word "Submariner" - nothing else.
The rare Submariner "Solo" lettering is thus only seen on early Submariner references 6204 and 6205. An original Rolex booklet (german language), detailing the history of the Rolex Submariner, including the Submariner "Solo" dials, is included in this collector's set for the fortunate new owner.

We have here one of these fabulous Rolex versions in a handsome collector's set.
This stroke of genius was produced in the 1950s. In fact, it was also sold in the year of the first James Bond movie in 1962, as can be seen from the attached Rolex paperwork.
The timemachine was serviced by the Rolex Service Division in New York in the 1970s and again received an exceptional Rolex Submariner "Solo" dial with "Tritium" original and completely preserved to this day (T SWISS T).
At this time, the watch also received its amazing factory-preserved steel service bezel and its 70s "U.S.A." stamped jubilee bracelet. In addition, there is the no Bakelite replacement insert, the Rolex factory service booklet and the original Rolex service pouch from the 70s. The exceptional configuration of this Rolex Submariner - with all original parts remaining intact for more than 50 years - is unique & highly collectible.
We have given this Rolex Submariner a complete overhaul in 2023. Only the most necessary parts were replaced by Rolex original components to keep the watch as original as possible. Through this elaborate and sensitively performed maintenance of the movement, the original Rolex parts such as crown, tube, glass, etc. were preserved. In addition, we supply a fresh red colored textile strap with the Rolex pin buckle from the 1950s to go with it.
Here is your truly superlative Rolex Submariner "Solo" Collector's Set with original box & paperwork from the 1950s.
