Hans-Georg Hofmann
1957 Speyer
The sea, the square and again and again the color blue are constant elements in Hans-Georg Hofmann's painting. In his early works he dealt with different landscape forms in a variety of ways. The following works "SEE-STÜCKE" and the paintings from his "ATLANTIK-MADEIRA" cycle take up the theme of the sea. The intensive examination of the Madeiran landscape awakened the artist's interest in Portuguese culture. Therefore he created a series of works on texts by the Portuguese poet Fernando Pessoa and his center of life Lisbon. His new acrylic paintings build on this: “Paisagens que não existem – landscapes that do not exist” (Fernando Pessoa).
